A lot of people ask: what does "beyond the well™" mean?

We created Beyond The Well™ Photography based upon our shared love of art and photography. While we do have academic training in the techinical aspects of photography, we feel it's our inherent creative nature and passion for our work which drives the creation and style of the images you see.

We have something of a lifelong collaboration working together as artists, photographers and husband+wife. We named our collaboration "the well" as if our outpouring into this world is like a bucket of water pulled up from a well. We chose "beyond the well™" because of our belief that our lives should reflect our relationship with Christ. Our faith is an important part of our life and defines who we are. We want our clients to know that we do not discriminate in any way. We photograph love of all types including non-traditional and same-sex families!

What is your style of photography?
We aim to capture natural moments in creative ways. We work on-location and to create a relaxing environment for you and your family.

How long does a session last?
Family and headshot sessions last about one hour. Senior and musician sessions vary from 1-3 hours depending on the number of looks desired. Newborn sessions also vary depending on the temperament of the child, but are approximately 1-3 hours.

How do we book you for a session?
Get in touch with us by filling out our contact form on this site. Portrait sessions are done Monday-Friday (very few Saturdays are available due to our wedding schedule-- but some may be available in the off-season December-April). Sundays are reserved so that we may observe a day of rest. After you get in touch, we'll send you a portrait agreement and work out a session date with our and your schedule. There is a 50% non-refundable retainer required to book your session. The balance is due at the time of your session.

How far are you willing to travel?
We'll travel just about anywhere for a portrait session! There is no fee within a 45-mile radius of Bloomington-Normal, IL. We have a flat rate to the Chicagoland area. We may offer sessions at no travel cost in select markets at various times of the year. Check out our blog for the most recent news.
